I love teaching 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts at St. Theresa School. I get to share the two things I am most passionate about: Christ and Literature. St. Theresa School is a loving community of faith that I am proud to send my three boys to as well.

With 9 years of experience teaching science and religion in the Archdiocese of Chicago, I am so excited to share my experience, knowledge and passion with students and our middle school team.

I grew up on the south side of Chicago and the south suburbs. I hold a degree in Geology (Secondary Education) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I am currently pursuing my master's in School Leadership and Administration at Concordia University.

As a member of the National Science Teaching Association and a collaborator with Fermilab, I am dedicated to advancing science education. I also led educational initiatives at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.

I enjoy creating experiences for students that will be memorable for a lifetime! I look forward to a great school year!

History

Middle School History

I’m thrilled to be joining the St. Theresa School community. I’m a proud graduate of St. Louis University and have been married for 28 years. My husband and I have three grown daughters and one sweet grandson. When our girls were in middle school, we took the opportunity to travel the world—one of our most memorable trips was visiting the Church of the Nativity at Christmastime.

I have a deep love for history and truly enjoy teaching middle school students. Over the years, I’ve taught at wonderful schools including St. Francis Xavier in Wilmette, St. Monica’s in Santa Monica, and Holy Name of Jesus in Los Angeles, and I’ve spent many years as a substitute teacher as well. I’m looking forward to a joyful and spirit-led school year at STS!

Art -  Rm. 10

7th Grade HR L2

I vividly remember an occasion as a young girl when my mother gave us permission to color all over the family room walls. She was redecorating, and thought it would be a great way for us to be creative, and at the same time, to keep us busy! Perhaps that is where my love of Art began.

I studied English and Art at the University of Notre Dame, and upon graduation, worked in the business world as an editor. It was during this time that I met my husband, Don, and we decided to start a family. Fortunately for me, my husband shared my passion for art, which transferred easily to our seven children. Our house is always full of homemade decorations, welcome home posters and birthday banners.

It has been pure joy for me to combine my love of children with my love of art and fashion it into a teaching career. I am so happy to be St. Theresa’s surrounded by many fine artists.

II am thrilled to join the STS middle school team as the ELA teacher. I earned undergraduate degree in history from Northeastern IL, and then continued at NEIU for a masters in 6-12 education. My background includes working as an elementary English instructor, substitute teacher, and as an intern at Illinois State Archives.

In my free time, I love to bake and participate in historical costuming events.

Hola! I'm a native Spanish teacher from beautiful Ecuador, passionate about sharing not only my language but also the rich culture, traditions, and warmth of Spanish speaking countries. I enjoy helping students of all ages and levels build confidence in their Spanish skills through engaging, personalized lessons.

Whether we're diving into grammar, exploring Ecuadorian cuisine, or learning through music and stories, my goal is to make every class a fun and meaningful cultural experience. Teaching is not just my job—it’s my joy, and I love creating a welcoming environment where students feel inspired to learn and grow.
