Library Staff

Mrs. Jessica Banakis

Librarian

Our family feels so blessed to be a part of St. Theresa School.  All three of my children attend STS, and they could not love it more!  Being a librarian was always a dream of mine.  I learned at a very young age that a good book can brighten a mood, calm the mind, increase knowledge, and encourage creativity, which I feel are all important aspects of life.

When I am not at work I am spending time with my family and friends, and when I have a spare moment, I am of course reading a good book!

Music teacher

Miss Gia Pappas

Music Teacher

I am so thrilled to be a part of the St. Theresa Enrichment team as your music teacher!

Growing up, singing was my true passion. My parents always told me I was singing before I could speak! Here at St. Theresa, I am blessed to have the opportunity to use my passion for music and children to provide a safe and fun learning environment for my students to express themselves, and help them build a deeper connection with God through the power of music.

I studied music for 6 years receiving both a Bachelor and Master's degree in music where my primary instrument was my voice. This has granted me the opportunity to perform as a professional Opera singer in all different parts of the world. My music knowledge blossomed over these years and my goal is to expand my knowledge to my students all while making memories in the classroom and beyond!

When I am not performing or teaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends and keep my Greek family recipes alive in the kitchen!

Maureen Hull

Mrs. Maureen Hull

Art Teacher

I vividly remember an occasion as a young girl when my mother gave us permission to color all over the family room walls.  She was redecorating, and thought it would be a great way for us to be creative, and at the same time, to keep us busy!  Perhaps that is where my love of Art began.

I studied English and Art at the University of Notre Dame, and upon graduation, worked in the business world as an editor.  It was during this time that I met my husband, Don, and we decided to start a family.  Fortunately for me, my husband shared my passion for art, which transferred easily to our seven children.  Our house is always full of homemade decorations, welcome home posters and birthday banners.

It has been pure joy for me to combine my love of children with my love of art and fashion it into a teaching career.  I am so happy to be St. Theresa’s surrounded by many fine artists.

Reading Specialist

Mrs. Celeste Kerr

Reading Resource Teacher

As an educator reading and literacy instruction have always been my passion. I find reading to be invaluable because it carries over to all other subjects, and I find great fulfillment in helping students develop the skills to make them successful readers.  I believe that teaching children to overcome their challenges through a combination of academic instruction and spiritual guidance will help them to be successful throughout their lives.  I am delighted to be a faculty member at STS, where my three children also attend.

St. Theresa School is a wonderful place to work. Students in grades K-5 are hungry to learn and love to share their love for a second language with their family and friends!

I enjoy helping my students  learn how to communicate in another language, and understand the importance of being bilingual in today's society.  I love to teach Spanish!

My favorite part of my job is watching the children grow, becoming more confident and independent throughout the school year. I am originally from NY and my daughter is a graduate of St. Theresa School.

Ruiz

Mrs. Joanne Spachner
Resource Teacher

My love for God, children, and teaching has presented me with this wonderful opportunity to continue my teaching career here at St. Theresa. I began my teaching career in the Chicago Catholic Schools. Then taught 3rd grade in D62 for many years. Now, I have come full circle back to the Catholic Schools and am so excited to be a part of the STS Faculty as a resource teacher.

A primary goal for me is to ensure that students understand the importance of learning and assist them with the tools to beccome successful in the classroom. "Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning."

Mr. Nick Sobieszczyk

I strive to create an environment where our young athletes can develop a strong understanding of the importance of physical education. Through the foundations of athletic programs, students will feel more comfortable participating in sports, understand the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and having fun!

Tech teacher

Mr. Michael Tuntland

My path towards teaching began a long time ago while working with youth programs throughout the community.  During my studies in college, I spent over 100 hours inside middle schools and lab settings.  In 2009 I began to teach 5th-8th grade math, technology and STEM.  As part of my love for teaching is my love for using and implementing technology!

I have a passion for aquatics.  In the winter months I coach high school diving. When I am not at school, you will find me around some form of water, including the ice where I play hockey.

Resource Teacher
Mrs. Deborah Udelhofen
Resource Teacher & Accommodation Coordinator

Hello!  My name is Deb Udelhofen and I am excited to be part of the St. Theresa family!

I have been a parishioner at St. Theresa for 30 years and  all three of our daughters are STS graduates!  A second career educator, my journey into education began many years ago when I was a parent here, often subbing  for St. Theresa teachers.  Discovering teaching is more fun than being a CPA:),

I earned a Master of Special Education degree, as well as, becoming a National Board Certified Teacher.  I have been a special education teacher at Huntley High School for the previous 14 years, instructing students in self-contained programs, co-teaching in general education classes, and supporting students with accommodations as their case manager.

I am Truly blessed to be part of an exceptional team of dedicated teachers,  I look forward to collaborating with students and parents to provide another dimension of education at St. Theresa.
